We were contacted early in 2000 by Hornbeam, who asked if they could visit us with a view to compiling our Accounts. There was no obligation, no charge, so we said – OK come if you wish – but we have used the same firm of Accountants for over twenty years.

Phil Needham duly arrived and we introduced him to our Pig’s Breakfast! This was a jumble of files and entries – mostly incorrect – on our computer, and our annual returns, at the time, were almost two years out of date. Much to our surprise he said he could straighten this all out and an even greater surprise was the fee which would be charged for doing it. Outstanding papers were immediately rescued from our then Accountants and a big heap of stuff was delivered to Rackheath. A few exploratory and explanatory phone calls followed and our yearly accounts duly arrived, completed, in a few weeks.

During the last twelve months, Mr Needham has visited us on a few occasions gradually straightening out (and not least explaining) the whys and wherefores of our previously incomprehensible computer accounting system. We now have accurate, up to minute figures on our computer – and recourse to expert advice at any time! In addition, and not least, this service is delivered at a fraction of the cost of our previous Accountants.

The due diligence on the acquisition of Sarbir Plant Hire Ltd. was carried out with great care and professionalism and by working together we were made aware of what we were taking on at a very early stage. This has helped us tremendously in the smooth take over of the company.

The most recent acquisition of P & R Plant Hire was not a standard way of purchasing a business but with your help in drafting the contract and negotiating with the seller it enabled us to complete this deal in a very short space of time, whilst also avoiding disproportionate professional fees.

My thanks are due to you and your team for the high quality service provided for me over many years. I think I was reasonably efficient as an 'Organ Grinder' but book keeping was certainly not my forte & must have been difficult for you to decipher sometimes.

As I got near retirement I sometimes worried how my days would be filled when work had ended. In reality I never seem to be at a loose end, my blood pressure is lower than it has been for years.

My best wishes for the prosperity of all at Hornbeam & once again my thanks for your service to me since Cecil retired.
